Cold sore not blistering?

2 days ago, i felt a tingling on my upper lip. I thought it may have been a pimple so I put some acne cream on it. The next day I woke up and saw the spot began to grow and get more red. It hurt to touch and to move my lip around a lot. I've never had a cold sore in my life and was surprised to think I had one. I started putting Lysine+ on it the second i thought it was a cold sore. It hadnt formed in to a blister yet and there was no head to it. I guess it is a cold sore, but just hasnt blistered yet. Anywho its been 2 days and i was wondering if there was anything I could do to help it heal. It hasnt blistered so i can't pop it... maybe it won't blister at all if i keep applying this cream to it and ice it? any advice on the matter?
